This role requires candidates who have worked with owner’s teams and have a deep understanding of both the strategic planning and hands-on execution phases of complex projects. The ideal candidate will have experience managing the project schedule across multiple stages, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with business goals, resource availability, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive project schedules for large-scale oil & gas projects, focusing on both FEED and execution phases.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and align the project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Manage and update schedules based on project changes, ensuring integration of both engineering and construction activities, and maintaining alignment with project milestones.
  • Identify critical path activities, assess scheduling risks, and propose corrective actions to address delays or resource conflicts.
  • Provide regular reports to the project management and senior leadership teams, outlining key schedule progress, delays, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Work effectively with the owner’s team to ensure adherence to the overall project objectives, timelines, and cost constraints, supporting the decision-making process.

  • Review and approve subcontractor schedules, ensuring integration into the master project schedule.
  • Support project managers in developing accurate project forecasts, progress tracking, and schedule-related resource planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of project schedules for different phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Lead or participate in project review meetings, identifying and addressing any potential scheduling conflicts or resource issues.
  • Ensure that the project schedule adheres to safety, environmental, and quality requirements, particularly in alignment with owner’s expectations.
  • Implement and maintain industry best practices for scheduling and project management, ensuring schedule optimization throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in scheduling and planning within the oil & gas industry, with exposure to both FEED and execution phases.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale oil & gas projects, including working directly with owner’s teams on major capital projects.
  • Extensive experience with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, best practices, and techniques.
  • Proven ability to manage complex schedules, identify critical paths, and implement mitigation plans for schedule risks.
  • Previous experience in managing schedules for all project phases (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience in reporting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in coordinating with multiple teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams, to ensure timely project execution.
  • A background in working with contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to align schedules and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of the oil & gas industry, particularly regarding safety standards, project execution, and regulatory compliance.
  • PMP, PMI-SP, or other relevant certifications would be an asset.
  • Owner’s team experience is highly preferred.
