MERC has an immediate opening in the Aircraft Directorate for an engineer with aerospace/structures experience. Responsibilities include participating in a dynamic team of skilled engineers conducting physics-based analyses and reliability/design calculations.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform detailed engineering efforts.
  • Provide detailed cross-functional engineering communication, design, evaluation, and implementations achieving novel and unique functionality and capability.
  • Technical interface with present and perspective customers.
  • Provide detailed technical information to program managers including cost, schedule, and technical risk assessments at all stages of implementation through multi-disciplined engineering applications.


Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., EE, ME, AE, IE, SW, CE, Computer Science, etc.) from an ABET accredited institution and 2 years of directly related experience.; or a Master’s degree in same and 1 year of directly related experience; or a PhD.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with basic principles of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and stress calculations.
  • Experience in using NASTRAN, AFGROW, NX, LSDYNA, ABAQUS, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Python/, LabView, ANSYS, or other modeling tools.
  • Experience with structural testing, instrumentation, and data reduction.
