Maintenance/ Reliability Engineer - Chemical Plant

This is a pivotal role at a leading global chemical plant located in the scenic region of Eastern North Carolina. The Maintenance/Reliability Engineer will be instrumental in overseeing plant operations and maintenance, driving improvements, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading both routine and complex engineering projects. Compensation: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review and enhance maintenance procedures and equipment functionality to boost plant efficiency and technology adoption.
  • Plan, authorize, and oversee projects focused on enhancing productivity while adhering to all relevant regulations.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to both Operations and Maintenance staff for troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Carry out project management duties for capital projects, including design, specification drafting, overseeing construction, and managing startup operations.
  • Manage emergency maintenance operations as required, ensuring swift resolution of critical plant issues.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and documentation responding to internal requests and outlining project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
  • Supervise and inspect design and construction activities, addressing any issues that arise during projects and ensuring optimal collaboration between different departments.
  • Initiate and manage purchases and contractor engagements for approved capital projects and operational improvements.
  • Ensure all projects and operations maintain high safety and environmental standards, offering recommendations for enhancements.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory
  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance or reliability engineering within the chemical, mineral, or related industries.
  • Proven track record in vibration analysis and lubrication program management.
  • Eligibility to work in the USA without sponsorship, currently and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE-Professional Engineer certification is highly preferable.
  • Project management experience, particularly in a related industry.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to effectively identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Solid communication and advisory skills to function effectively as a consultant to other departments.
  • Effective project management skills, capable of leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in drafting and interpreting technical documentation and blueprints.
  • Proven ability to manage and direct contract engineering services, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and best practices in the chemical industry.
