Process / Project Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Process / Project Engineer to join our team in Lafayette, IN, near Purdue University. This role entails overseeing day-to-day production, spearheading various projects, designing processes, and providing mentorship to junior engineers. As a central figure in the plant, you will drive operational excellence, participate in cross-functional teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in a dynamic processing environment.

Compensation: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, development of findings, conclusions, and recommendations; prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, and process transmittals.
  • Contribute to the design of moderately complex engineering projects or manage components of major projects.
  • Propose safer, less expensive, or innovative techniques regardless of project relation.
  • Work effectively across different organizational levels and functions internally and externally to achieve project goals.
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to process operators, ensuring efficient plant operations.
  • Support entry-level professionals by providing guidance on both procedural and technical matters.
  • Identify operational problems and recommend practical corrective actions to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a process, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commitment to personal growth, desire to learn new operations, and ability to mentor others in solving complex engineering problems.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic chemical operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with process optimization and project management software tools.
  • Proven track record of successful project leadership and team management in a processing or manufacturing setting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Hands-on experience in a similar role at a large-scale processing facility.

  • Prior experience or demonstrated ability in technical writing and documentation.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills to foster a cooperative team environment.
