The Vice President of Digital Marketing is responsible for leading the digital marketing strategy and initiatives of the company. The Vice President of Digital Marketing will develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing plans, oversee digital marketing campaigns, and drive online brand presence and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

People Management (LMA)

Team Leadership And Development

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the Paid Media, SEO, Web Experience, Data/Analytics teams and Digital PR, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Develops and communicates reference architecture documents and product standards and develops and maintains enterprise technical roadmaps.
  • Identify and implement ongoing training and professional development opportunities to ensure teams are equipped with the latest skills, tools, and industry knowledge.
  • Establish clear career progression paths for team members, ensuring alignment with Smith goals and personal growth objectives.
  • Act as a point of escalation for DMS department leaders for resource planning and management, including talent-to-task alignment and supporting hiring processes

Performance Management

Pre-Sales and Solutioning

  • Work closely with the Sales, team Account team and SMEs to support the development of pitches, proposals, and presentations for new logos and existing client extension opportunities, ensuring alignment with client’s business needs and market trends.
  • Provide strategic input and recommendations for potential clients, offering a compelling vision of the Smith’s digital commerce capabilities.
  • Provide input and review of the estimation and SOW creation processes in collaboration with the SMEs to verify resource requirements, timelines, and projected outcomes to develop profitable yet effective digital solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between Sales and DMS delivery teams, communicating the background and discovery from the sales process to those who will be most closely involved in the work after it has been sold.

Delivery Excellence

Quality Assurance and Innovation

  • Work alongside department leads as an additional point of escalation and collaboration for project delivery, helping to ensure both employee and client satisfaction as work gets completed
  • Drive innovation by implementing the latest tools, techniques, and strategies in digital marketing to keep services competitive and effective.

Process Improvement and Standardization

  • Act as a sounding board for DMS department leaders who are responsible for process creation and standardization respective to their departments
  • Assess and optimize cross-departmental workflows to improve collaboration and efficiency

Communication and Reporting

  • Act as a point of escalation with clients, working with channel leads to address issues and provide a resolution plan to the client
  • In conjunction with department leaders, help oversee the largest DMS projects and retainers to ensure teams provide insightful and actionable recommendations to clients

Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence

  • Act as a liaison with the Smith ELT in providing data and insights to shape the strategic vision
  • Conduct regular research and analysis of industry trends, competitor activities, and client behavior to identify growth opportunities.
  • In collaboration with SMEs, identify emerging digital trends and technologies, such as AI, automation, and personalization, into the Smith’s offerings.
  • In collaboration with SMEs, identify opportunities to grow and evolve DMS service lines in accordance with industry trends and client needs.
  • Identify potential strategic partnerships with technology and marketing vendors, industry influencers, and complementary service providers to enhance the Smith’s capabilities.

What We Look For

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (VP, Director, or equivalent) leading cross-functional teams in Paid Media, SEO, Web Experience, Data/Analytics, and Digital PR.
  • Demonstrated experience in pre-sales activities, including leading the development of proposals, pitches, and presentations. Strong ability to work closely with sales and account teams to align digital solutions with client needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of digital marketing channels, tools, and best practices, with a focus on Paid Media, SEO, Analytics, Web Experience, and Digital PR. Proven experience in driving strategic, data-driven marketing campaigns and digital transformations for large-scale brands.

Strong background in competitive analysis and market research, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies that drive business growth.
