The Desktop Support Technician provides day-to-day technical support to end-users across the organization, ensuring seamless operation of hardware, software, and communications systems. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including troubleshooting, configuring, and maintaining desktop systems, end-user onboarding, and supporting advanced collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, and other o365 productivity tools. Additionally, the technician plays a key role in enabling worker productivity through VPN support, conference room A/V systems, and end user training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems (primarily Windows) and standard office applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain and manage email systems, ensuring proper account setup, access, and troubleshooting.
- Manage and support the Mimecast email protection suite, including configuring policies, monitoring for security threats, and troubleshooting user issues.
- Manage and support Microsoft Teams Phone systems, including device setup, call routing, and user troubleshooting.
- Assist users with Microsoft Teams and related collaboration tools, ensuring effective communication workflows.
- Provide support for VPN setup and troubleshooting to ensure secure remote access for end-users.
- Conduct onboarding for new hires, including hardware setup, account configuration, and training on organizational tools and processes.
- Set up and maintain conference room A/V equipment for meetings and events, including displays, projectors, cameras, and microphones.
- Act as a liaison with the Cybersecurity NOC, attending bi-weekly meetings to align systems and access with identified issues and vulnerabilities.
- Act as the primary liaison to report and manage infrastructure issues to the organization's 3rd party Managed Service Provider (MSP).
- Document incidents and solutions in the IT ticketing system to track trends and improve service delivery.
- Maintain inventory of hardware and software assets, ensuring equipment is up-to-date and adequately stocked.
Education:
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 2+ years in desktop or end-user support roles.
- Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, and Office 365 administration.
- Experience with VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to conference room A/V equipment and support.
- Experience managing email protection systems like Mimecast.

Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA A+ or Network+
- Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- ITIL Foundation Certification
Primarily office-based, with occasional remote work support. Some after-hours support may be required for critical incidents or system maintenance. Occasional travel within a 25-mile radius of corporate offices may be required.
