Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a highly responsible professional position under the direction of the Program Administrator for HIV/AIDS Surveillance Program in the Section of HIV/AIDS. This position is responsible for overseeing the generation and distribution of HIV/AIDS statistical data reports. Additionally, this position will provide technical assistance related to data quality control and analyses of HIV/AIDS data collection activities. This position requires a Master of Public Health (or equivalent). This position is responsible for writing code in SAS to generate HIV data as required; therefore, this position requires an intermediate level of programming experience in SAS (or SQL or R). This position requires the ability to work independently without close supervision. Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring, and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.
Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and discipline action, if needed. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training.
Develops, coordinates, and oversees the preparation of routine and ad hoc epidemiologic analysis reports of HIV/AIDS data for grants, presentations, research publications, quality assurance technical assistance visits, etc. Assists in the writing of comprehensive statistical and analytic reports that require the use of sociological behavioral science, demographic, and/or epidemiologic analytic techniques and evaluation, and application of the latest technology.
Collaborates with other Programs within the HIV/AIDS section to evaluate and monitor the trends and care patterns of the HIV epidemic in Florida. Provides quarterly summaries on HIV Surveillance data-related indicators/goals for the HIV/AIDS Section and makes recommendations for process, procedure, or policy related improvements.
Updates the Continuum of HIV Care Model each year for the state and local Partnership Areas. Prepares epidemiologic reports which include epi trend and unmet need data for the state and the 6 local eligible metropolitan areas (EMAs) as specified within the HRSA grant applications.
Oversees the matching of the HIV/AIDS database with other databases to assess co-morbidity, in-care services and/or mortality status.
Collaborates with the CDC on special epidemiology analysis projects.
Assists the HIV/AIDS Surveillance Program Manager with budget analysis and other program planning and evaluation activities related to HIV/AIDS Surveillance.
Provides technical assistance and needed training to HIV/AIDS surveillance field staff and other medical specialists related to quality control and analyses of HIV/AIDS data collection activities.
Represents the HIV/AIDS Section in local, state, and national meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of statistical analysis, knowledge of program planning and evaluation, ability to communicate effectively using various methods (oral, written), critical thinking skills, ability to supervise effectively, ability to work independently or part of a team.
Qualifications:
Minimum: High School Diploma
Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in Epidemiology, biostatistics, or equivalent. One or more years of supervisory experience; two or more years with data management or data analysis
