The US Pensions Investment (“USPI“) team is responsible for managing Citi's US Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution retirement plans with a total value of $30 billion and advises on the asset allocation and investment strategy for all International Pension Plans.
The USPI Manager for U.S. Pension Investments will enhance the Risk & Controls framework of the USPI team, focusing on improved documentation and reporting processes. This role requires a background in Risk and Compliance, overseeing daily operations and having the authority to raise issues to fiduciaries and senior management. The position is fully funded by the Pension Plan Investment Committee (PPIC)/401(k) Plan Investment Committee (4PIC).
The individual should have a comprehensive understanding of how their sub-function contributes to achieving business objectives, alongside a solid grasp of industry dynamics and competitors. This requires excellent communication skills for internal negotiations, with some external engagement necessary. The role involves executing functional strategy, overseeing budgeting, planning, and contributing to future strategy, impacting strategy, team size, and interaction with other business functions.
Responsibilities:
- Assess risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Streamline processes to comply with fiduciary standards, Department of Labor, and ERISA regulations.
- Partner with investment and operational teams to develop best practices in asset management.
- Support the CIO in PPIC/401(k) relations, presentations, asset allocation, and analysis of fees and expenses.
- Coordinate with Investment Officers to improve documentation and address deficiencies in procedures.
- Collaborate with Citi Treasury and FCOO offices on corporate pension plan requirements.
- Manage USPI Managers Control Assessment and liaise with various support functions.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to USPI.
- Create and present quarterly operational reports to PPIC/4PIC.
- Review and update monthly reports on USPI activities and operational risks.
- Oversee monthly reconciliations and ensure proper documentation for transactions.
- Assist with investment processes and monitor compliance with standards.
- Train staff and act as a liaison with Sponsor Control/Support Functions.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in financial services.
- Understanding of financial products and effective leadership skills.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of bank risk and controls.
- Able to work under pressure with multiple tasks.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, possibly a Master's degree, and managerial experience.
