Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to review, verify and process Medicare, medical assistance and kidney disease program claims data for accuracy, completeness and compliance with State of Maryland and federal regulations by applying appropriate COMAR regulations, policies and procedures. This position will also determine client eligibility. This position will also resolve provider issues and perform all claims-related functions for the reconciliation of all types of provider claims. This position will refer to claims as appropriate for supervisory advice and guidance. This position will also respond to inquiries from recipients, health care providers, social workers and others to provide information and resolve complaints and outstanding issues. This position will also be completing any clerical duties associated with the functions listed above and provide clerical support as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes:

  • Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience/skills in customer service and public interaction.
  • Experience/skills in oral and written communication.
