Comprehensive Urgent Care at this clinic provides diagnosis and treatment of non-life threatening illness and injury for adults, adolescents, children, and infants. This Ward Clinic features Team Based Primary Care led by Internal Medicine and Family Practice providers to consistently manage the overall health care needs for patients of all ages. On-site, walk-in, laboratory and X-ray imaging bring sophisticated diagnostic services to this area. Supported by the most advanced electronic medical record system the clinic’s team leverages the MyChart patient portal which engages patients to connect with their doctor and care team, manage their health, optimize their appointments, and help family member track their health.

As a Medical Assistant in our Ward clinic, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide our recognized compassionate health services to patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities in the Ophthalmic department. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and attentive, with strong communications and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card.
  • Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.

Preferred Experience:

  • Six (6) months medical assistant experience.
  • Knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) coding.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
