Job Description:
Responsible for performing functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and calibrating avionics electronics.
- Works from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, schematics, and/or test procedures; diagnoses and analyzes problems utilizing a variety of test equipment.
- Documents test findings and provides input for process improvements and development of top-level test procedures.
- Develops subassembly test procedures as needed.
- Constructs, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment used to support RF testing/tuning.
- Ensures the correct functionality of units under test and test equipment.
- Utilizes methodical and logical reasoning processes to resolve complex technical issues.
- Identifies any discrepancies within testing.
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior RF relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior RF related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- AA Degree in electronics or equivalent technical degree.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Good hand-eye coordination for work under a microscope.
- Experience with environmental testing and monitoring of product.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control as applied to related assembly, inspection, and test processes.
- Working knowledge of electronic theory relating to RF transmission, receivers’ circuits, analog and digital circuitry.
- Ability to troubleshoot RF/Digital circuits to the component level.
- Understanding and ability to perform calibration of RF circuitry and equipment calibration procedures.
- Must have working knowledge of electronic test equipment.
- Advanced experience with test equipment, i.e., signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and RF equipment.
- Advanced ability to read and understand schematic diagrams to solve complex technical problems, analyze faulty circuits.
- Ability to maintain an electronic technician product failure database.
