Job Purpose

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of security alarm wiring and equipment and access control equipment.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, and other areas as required. Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation.
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
  • Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras, and attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components.
  • Mount raceways and conduits, and fasten wires to wood framing, using staplers.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and basic network related problems encountered by end-users of the network.
  • Has an understanding of IPV4 and how to assign a computer an IP address.
  • Complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner.
  • Maintain the company’s high standards of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, and team members.
  • Submit all paperwork on time.
  • Adhere to all required project specific as well as company safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Working Environment

  • Regularly exposed to work in non-climate controlled environments.
  • May be exposed to airborne particles and dirt in outdoor or construction environments.
  • Noise levels can be high depending upon work site and tools required.

Physical requirements

The employee must regularly:

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, for up to eight hours daily.
  • Coordinate hands and eyes while using automated tools and equipment.
  • Handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
  • Use one hand for twisting or turning motions while coordinating other hand with different activities.
  • Climb up and down ladders (8 feet routinely).
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl in all environments (basements, crawl spaces, attic/ceilings, etc.).

Experience and Education:

  • 3+ years low voltage field experience.
  • Professional communication and delegation skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
