The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) invites candidates to apply for a full-time, Fiscal Administrative Assistant position at A.I. Prince Technical High School, located in Hartford, CT.
Position Highlights:

The Role:
This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of fiscal/administrative duties in a high school environment. The ideal candidate is detailed-oriented and has the ability to meet critical deadlines.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency, facility or institution this class is accountable for performing a combination of basic paraprofessional work, and highly complex clerical work in fiscal and administrative functions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Performs paraprofessional level work in fiscal and administrative activities.
- Independently performs bookkeeping and basic accounting activities.
- Responsible for accounts receivable or accounts payable processes.
- Prepares financial statements.
- Calculates rates with complex formulas.
- Gathers payroll and expenditure data for budgets.
- Ensures compliance with appropriation limits.
- Utilizes EDP systems for financial records and reports.
- Performs purchasing functions and prepares contracts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and governmental accounting principles.
- Skills in interpersonal and communication.
- Considerable ability in arithmetic computations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four years of experience in complex clerical work in fiscal/administrative functions such as accounting, budget management, or purchasing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- College training may substitute for General Experience.
- One year as a Pre-Professional Trainee in fiscal/administrative work may substitute.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CORE-CT Financials, bookkeeping software, or HRMS systems.
- Experience with State procurement policies and procedures.
- Experience auditing financial records and reports.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. certification may be required for supervising or observing custodial individuals.
