Description

St. Joseph's Center is searching for a friendly and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Receptionist. The position involves all telephone receptionist activities such as greeting visitors, taking messages and receiving deliveries. This is a full-time position with daytime hours Monday-Friday.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    • Receives and transfers all incoming calls.
    • Keeps a calendar and schedules the conference rooms.
    • Takes messages for employees who are unable to receive calls.
    • Distributes and keeps track of all visitor badges.
    • Operates central paging system.
    • Warmly greets visitors, clients and salespeople.
    • Determines the needs of visitors, clients and salespeople and directs them to the proper person or office.
    • Notifies appropriate caseworker when residents are being visited by family members.
    • Questions any strangers entering the reception area or passing through the hall about the nature of their business in the agency.
    • Report any suspicious visitors immediately to the proper authorities.
    • Handles harassing phone calls.
    • Receives packages and notifies the proper person of the arrival.
    • Knows what to do when there is a fire drill or the fire alarm goes offr.
    • Trains new staff on how to properly work the switchboard.
    • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
    • Comes to work as scheduled and is punctual.
    • Maintains a cooperative relationship with coworkers and supervisors and creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust within the department.
    • Is flexible to changes in duties, priorities, methods and environments.

    Competencies

    • Knowledge of and ability to operate telephone switchboard.
    • Knowledge of organizational structure of the facility.
    • Ability to carry out duties exhibiting warmth, hospitality, diplomacy and confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of current practices and techniques used within an office setting.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work harmoniously with other employees and the public.

    Education And/or Experience

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Prior switchboard experience preferred
    • Valid PA Driver’s License

    • Ability to sit 7 or more hours per day.
    • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing 10-15 pounds.
    • Ability to twist upper portion of body on an infrequent basis.
    • Ability to squat, bend and kneel for short periods of time.
