Position Title: TURBINE GENERATOR TECHNICIAN III

Location: UNITED STATES (EXCEPT CALIFORNIA)

FLSA Class: NON-EXEMPT

Responsible to: NATIONAL SERVICE MANAGER-POWER

Position Summary: Diagnose and repair Natural Gas Turbine generators. Verify and adjust breaker settings per job requirements. Proactively inspect and recommend repairs to increase generator reliability. Help train technicians on advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Essential Duties And Management Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for all engine and generator maintenance related to the turbine generator units and assist with subsystems as assigned.
  • Perform all service checks following manufacturer recommendations.
  • Keep adequate and proper operational and maintenance logs.
  • Identify all spare parts as needed for use and stock inventory.
  • Advance knowledge to assist and participate in routine inspections and make modifications to Turbine Generators, and associated equipment.
  • Advance knowledge on electrical distribution, i.e., Cable, Breakers, Transformers, Breaker Relay settings.
  • Utilize measuring equipment including multimeters, ammeters and megohmmeters for the diagnosis and repair of equipment.
  • Advance knowledge in troubleshoot units to identify possible problems, engine and or generator.
  • Advance knowledge in making electrical and mechanical wiring modifications to generator control circuits.
  • Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose all problems with power generation equipment, including problems with generator controls AC and DC.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
  • Help Train other technicians on troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must be dependable.

  • Interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Identifying and repairing problems with engine control systems.
  • Interpreting schematic diagrams and wiring.
  • Maintaining records electronically.
  • Reading electrical and mechanical drawing and prints.
  • Using electrical testing and calibration equipment.

Educational And Other Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years turbine engine experience on Solar Turbines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Quick learner
  • Good troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnore electrical problems.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Excellent customer skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required.
  • The employee must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds.
